Nineteen of Medvedev's twenty-one championships have been achieved on hard courts
A revitalized Daniil Medvedev claimed his first championship for nearly 30 months with success over Corentin Moutet in the tournament title decider.
The Russian, a ex- world number one, has had a challenging period, achieving just one win at the Grand Slams and experiencing a difficult moment at the New York tournament.
His inconsistency on the tennis tour - and issues with his serving in particular - led to him exiting of the top ten and eventually parting ways with former mentor Gilles Cervara.
Presently training with his coach and Rohan Goetzke, Medvedev has gradually advanced in the last few weeks - peaking in a hard-fought three-set triumph over challenger Corentin Moutet.
This represents Medvedev's maiden championship following the Rome competition and first on a hardcourt since spring of the previous year.
The win also means Medvedev has achieved 21 titles at twenty-one different competitions.
"This marks the first occasion I'm at a tournament with my children simultaneously, so to secure a championship is particularly special," commented tennis professional Daniil Medvedev.
"This title is in tribute of my younger daughter her name, because the initial championship I achieved when my older daughter her name was born was for her."
Medvedev, the past champion, had been defeated in his previous six finals, including in the German tournament earlier this year.
The player's defensive play style and recurring outbursts on the tennis court had prompted commentators to wonder if his skill to perform at the elite level was finished.
However the athlete has implemented adjustments in the past month, striving to approach the net and perform aggressively, reinforced by an improved serve.
Medvedev fought back from a disadvantage in the first set against the challenging opponent, taking 4 of the concluding five exchanges to take the lead.
The pair swapped break points in the second set before the Frenchman, bidding for his maiden professional title, seized the initiative to push for a decider.
The opponent saved 4 initial opportunities in a close deciding set before Medvedev secured a break to that score to close out the victory.
Suitably, he clinched the win with a shot at the front of the court, with his opponent failing to control a volley after two hours and 38 minutes.
